The statement “there are people who are predators and fetishists who want to get into women’s spaces” does NOT equate to transphobia.

It’s concern that the redefinition of “woman” under the law will mean that “woman” as a legal identity will be claimable by anyone, including those who seek to do harm.

The correct analogy would be saying that “black people only safe spaces should be open to membership by all white people without screening for those who also happen to be members of the KKK”. It would be like saying that “all people who identify as children should be allowed access to children”. That is what the concern is about, that granting unscreened access, to vulnerable groups, simply by claiming an identity, regardless of one’s biological reality, will allow predators to target these groups.

These are concerns about access to vulnerable groups. That is important. Safeguarding of children and of women is important.
