Map of Future Indonesia: Kalimantan

Future Kalimantan (Indonesian part of Borneo)

As Indonesia preparing herself for a new capital, the island which it located, Kalimantan (Borneo) will have to transform.

Joko (Jokowi) Widodo had some infrastructure projects on-going in Kalimantan, such as the Balikpapan - Samarinda toll road, Kalimantan border parallel road, and Purukcahu-Bangkuang railroad.

Thus, I create a railroad network map of Kalimantan in near future

The main railroad is Trans-Kalimantan, connecting 4 major provincial capitals from Pontianak to Samarinda.

Secondary networks connecting each capital with smaller cities in their respective provinces, such as Western Kalimantan or Meratus Line.

Other secondary networks will connect nearby cities with significant interactions. Case in point, Barito Ring connecting cities surrounding Barito river; and Kutai Coast Line, connecting the heartland of East Kalimantan from Balikpapan, new Indonesian capital (still unnamed, will take some area of Samboja district) up to Samarinda and fast-developing cities of Bontang and Sangatta.

The least feasible, the tertiary line will be the Kayan Mentarang Line, connecting the capital of new North Kalimantan province, Tanjung Selor, to Samarinda, but through the mountainous terrain of Malinau and Western Kutai. The name itself is taken from the densely forested National Park right in the heart of Borneo. It will be impossible to build a railroad in such condition, but the various Dayak people living in the area still need connectivity nonetheless.

(I also created the future railroad of Sumatera here)
