How do you make money from this?
Film Making — Your Income and your expression.
There is a common, ethereal conundrum that creative souls that are impoverished with. An internal need to create contrasted by the ability to create wealth and a stable life. Let me play the devil’s advocate for a moment and counter with a sharp, pointed quip that declares ‘I do not do this for money!’ or ‘People do not understand me’
‘This is a sensitive topic for artists in every field of creativity.’

Humour me for a moment and let me paint a picture of my dreams. I would be directing my masterpiece script that I wrote. With proper financial backing, I would command the performance of my talent to suit the vision of my perfectly defined character. This would, of course, be acted by an A-List celebrity actor as I shout ‘Do it again! This time, I make me feel the pain you experiencing!’ All of this generating wealth to fund the next project.

Whichever discipline, we all have a collective underlying feeling.
‘I do not think I can do this desk job thing.’
I need to create something, my soul needs to express what is inside of me. Before I melt down in a pool of apathy and arrive at objection. Here are some thoughts for my dream of a career in filmmaking:
Who loves what I do?
My fans are separate from the people that will be directly related to my general income, for example I maybe a fan of Quentin Tarantino but I do not pay him for directing his next awesome movie. Maybe in ticket sales but not directly.
Let us ask some Questions:
1. Who are my consumers?
Who is going to pay me?
2. What value do I bring to the table?
How is my creativity appealing, what skills that are unique to me?
Thought: Does my value need to be grown from a excellence at the beginning?
Simplified, you could say, I do not have content to post! What do I do? Thinking big is great but let us start somewhere, could you blog about what you are passionate about?
3. What are the channels and platforms that people can connect with me?
What are the different ways to reach these people like me? You can build a fan base!
Thought: ‘Online and offline customers could be different.’
4. Relationship and Connection.
How can I reach those people that like me and my art? Creative hubs that share common interests? Where can you reach them?
5. Money, money, money…
How do I generate income? How have other people done this before and how can I connect with other creatives that are in the same discipline?
6. Physical and tangible resources, aka. Equipment, Software needed for my craft?
How do I need to begin, think baby steps!
7 . What are my most Important costs?
Make a list of what is you need. Prioritise the most important, create goals and make progress!
To reconstruct these thoughts, as painful and disconcerting as this process is. We do this, we can create more. This process helps give tangible help to create an ability to create what I love.
‘What if money was not an issue?’
I can not speak for you but that is what I desire!
