“I Want Money 😐 & the only skill I’m passionate about is writing. Writing that goes outside the bounds of normal professional or technical forms of literature. Writing that allows me to use my creativity and imagination.

How can I earn money by Writing only?”

Okay. I got You. And the answer is,

“Learn Copywriting”.

Period.

Isn’t it fun if you find words that spark people’s interest, pause their scroll, and drive sales?

Every single business needs a copywriter because they want to sell their stuff, online or offline.

Copywriter’s Goal:

“I will turn my words into money in your pocket!” (bravo)

If you have learned how to Copywrite, you can be a better — marketer, content creator, designer, or researcher — you name it!

Copywriting gives you a chance to prove yourself a clear communicator, a persuasive writer, and a solid grammarian. If you want it badly, don’t leave any stone unturned to be the best copywriter (Hmm.. it makes sense).

What is Copywriting?

A| Copywriting is the combination of the art of written words with the science of advertisement. It must tackle the reader’s curiosity by explaining why your solution is one of a kind.

B| Copywriting is creating masterpiece content by converting emotions into words which in turn mesmerizes the readers and convinces them to buy your product.

How to write a killer copy?

“Turn words into weapons using your unique multi-disciplined approach and grasp the project’s requirements quickly”.

Are Copywriting and Content Writing the Same?

A major difference between the two is, purpose of writing. Content writing has the intention of education and copywriting persuades one to take an action.

If you can’t say it you can’t sell it (heard often/it’s boring, huh!). Content writing depends on the word count (100–3000 words) but copywriting doesn’t (usually 2–4 lines). Copywriting can be short as one sentence if it’s crispy and to the point. Content writing builds an urge to connect with the article but copywriting urges the audience to buy the product by giving them relevant information. Copywriting builds a fire to take action which benefits the work.

Examples:

Content Writing: blog, article, news, web content, report, or academic writing.

Copywriting: product review, sales collateral, advertisements, infographics, etc.

Requirements of the Best Copy 📃:

👁 Make your content smile.

👁 Jolt your audience with a fresh perspective. Surprise them by using different approaches and angles they weren’t seeing coming.

👁 Using numbers in the title makes it ultra-specific, builds credibility, and is proven to boost conversions.

👁 Include the most important points at the very beginning.

Justify your purchase with logic after you succeeded in building an emotional connection with the audience.

Don’t tell your readers what to do. Well, I also barely like orders. Convince your readers why they must do what you want them to do.

7 Copywriting Exercises:

  1. Know your target audience: (a hell important thing). As David Ogilvy — A legendary British advertising executive said,

“Advertising people who ignore research are as dangerous as generals who ignore decodes of enemy signals”.

For this, you need a data-oriented approach to understand your customers and how the product will solve their problems.

2. Write a copy that sells: From website creation to online advertisement, strong copy forms the backbone of almost all branding efforts. It must focus on benefits more than the features.

3. Re-write ads: Practice writing and mimicking professionals. Have you tried swiped.co as a great source of copywriting exercises and samples?

4. Write faster: Aim to increase your WPM (word per minute) continually.

5. Experiment intros: For a single project, write various introductions to practice becoming better.

6. Use pen and paper: The best tool I have found to summarize ideas is writing copy with a pen.

7. Get feedback: Share your copy with other writers and value feedback. If they can't understand it in the first 5 seconds, your copy📃 is in no way going to work.

5-Step Copywriting — P O W E R

Step 1. Prepare:

Prepare a good copy with authentic information gathered by Q/A (as much as possible). Highlight the purpose and benefits of the product in the description.

Step 2. Organize:

It’s time to shape your content. Avoid shortcuts. Do massive research and take notes for best-selling ideas.

Step 3. Write:

Start writing your copy now. Learn the art of crafting epic headlines. About 80% of people read headline copy and only 20% will read the rest. Practice several headlines and choose the best one. Emphasize the information you like. Best working headlines could be direct, news, How-to, question, command, statement, or testimonial.

Step 4. Edit:

The hardest part, I understand! A long copy is acceptable only when it’s pulling its own weight. Declutter anything that is unclear or wordy. I know, you and I, love our content. But it's not us who are going to purchase the product. So make sure it’s convenient for your audience. Congrats, you can love your copy now.

Step 5. Review:

Put your copy aside for a few days and read it when you are fresh. List all the negatives that aren’t going to work — the headline, the call to action (CTA), or the tone. Discover improvements you can incorporate.

Don’t kill your personality and remember no one cares what you can do. Anything you write must have a purpose.

P.S. I have challenged myself to be one of the best copywriters within 6 months. The best way of learning is by reading, writing, and then taking minimal time to absorb what we read and write. Everyone knows that PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT.

I’m sure that by the end I’ll master the skill of best content production and the art of content advertisement.
