This is such a well thought out post. I wanted to read more when I got to the end of it. You’ve articulated a very nuanced understanding of tech + design culture that most seasoned observers aren’t able to articulte. I think a lot of this also has to do with designers posing ourselves as some sort of saviours that solve problems and help people — it creates a burden on designers to be passive observers, and automatically creates an hierarchy and us vs them, in which case there can never be true empathy. Would love to read more of your thoughts on this!
