The story I have for you today is one of its kind. You obviously don't know the person I will be talking about but he deserves to be known, or should I say, his actions deserve to be known.

Here goes.

I am a final year MBBS student in Kolkata, India. For a doctor-to-be, the final year of MBBS is one of the most gruelling ones. Apart from my studies, I sometimes write, as a side interest. And that is how I came to know of this wonderful person.

One fine morning, I received an e-mail from a medical student of SMS Medical College, Jaipur, India informing me of the struggles of a classmate of his. Both the students are in their final year of MBBS currently. The classmate felt mu writing could really tell the friend's story and I'm so honored by that, honestly.

I responded to the e-mail and then received Ashwin’s(name changed on request) contact details. I e-mailed Ashwin and his story has really changed the way I look at things.

Before I proceed, I'd like you to go through his story once.

Rajghat Has Not Seen A Wedding In The Past 20 Years And This MBBS Student Is Trying To Change Everything Wrong About This Place

I could've written it here but then it would've gotten awfully long. Also, Ashwin deserves a special mention of his own, I'm sure you will agree after you've read the link.

Ashwin is my age. With the equal load of studies that I have. He doesn't possess any superpowers. Yet, he's working singlehandedly to save an entire village and its people. He doesn't know any of the villagers personally. He is doing that simply because he feels that after 70 years of Indepence, it is a pity if some people of our country have to live like this:

  • No water except a saline river.
  • No hospitals within 2 miles.
  • No electricity.
  • No proper roads.
  • No scope of education beyond the fifth standard.

The list is endless.

Ashwin is braving an entire government and challenging a Chief Minister even in order to bring light into the lives of these villagers. There hasn't been a wedding in the village in the past 20 years because of the dire situation. Rajghat is now known as the village of bachelors.

And Ashwin is doing everything in his power to change that. If this is not inspiring, I don't know what is.

Do take out 3 minutes from your busy schedule and read his full story here:

Rajghat Has Not Seen A Wedding In The Past 20 Years And This MBBS Student Is Trying To Change Everything Wrong About This Place . He deserves that much, at the very least. Also, spread the word. People need to know about his #SaveRajghat movement.

All the best Ashwin!
