I think the key thing is always to listen carefully, to think and to evaluate whether your response will actually add something to the conversation before you respond. I think Lily Benson gave some great advice here on responding to women on Twitter, and it’s applicable beyond just that platform.

Almost everything I highlighted here consisted of thoughtless reactions with essentially no thought behind them. As long as you avoid that, you should be good.
