When given the opportunity, I tried to ask WHY to dive a little deeper into the responses.

Last week.

Pick-up.

Vacation.

A hotel or a bed to allow for sleep. A good resting area.

Security check points and any sort of delays.

What is your favourite airport you’ve been to and why?
YVR because I know where to go!

Can you share your worst airport experience?
Frankfurt. I missed a connecting flight and was transferred to a hotel to stay the night. This extended our planned travel time.

Why did you miss your connecting flight?
Plane landed in a different city because there was too much air traffic at Frankfurt.

Why was there too much air traffic?
I don’t know! There was runway available for our plane to land!

How did it make you feel when you were delayed?
I was really irritated.

Did you have to pay out of your own pocket for the hotel?
No, the airline covered it.

Was the airline accommodating?
Yes, very! They paid for hotel and meal vouchers.

What is your favourite airport you’ve been to and why?
I like the Taiwan airport. Good shopping, good food, good prices.

Can you share your worst airport experience?
I got stuck in the Manila airport.

Where in the airport?
I was stuck in a holding area for 5 hours with only vending machines. It was an area after I got off the plane and before security.

What do you mean you were stuck?
They made us wait in this holding area to ‘control crowds’. We weren’t allowed to go pass security.

Is that a normal procedure?
For Manila, maybe?

Were you scared?
Yah! I cried. And i missed my flight. I wasn’t able to go to a ticket booth to change my flight.

So what happened?
I cried. The security guard felt bad for me and gave me their wifi password.

For what?
I was able to call the airline.

And…
The airline assigned me a new flight.

Who were you with?
There were lots of passengers from all of the incoming flights.

If you were use to use one word to describe this situation, what would it be?
Horrible.

YVR, new, modern, good electrical outlets, newly renovated, represents our community and culture, Vancouver

Can you share your worst airport experience?
I was in Germany, and i needed to get to Venice. My plane was delayed and they wouldn’t rebook my new flight. Between Luthansa and Air Canada, they didn’t know where to send up. I was tossed between two airline counters and put on standby for 15 hours.

Ended up flying Luthansa, the original airline we were booked with. Although, it was their mistake but they didn’t compensate us, only rebooked our new flights.

Why was your flight in YVR delayed?
Mechanical issues

What feelings do you recall?
It was very annoying and a lot of walking from one terminal to the next. I didn’t have the proper luggage which made it really hard to get around. I wish I had a backpack.

Limitations on liquid.

Have you had a bad experience?
I have had stuff taken away from me. I had a water bottle removed from me that i forgot about.

What is your favourite airport you’ve been to and why?
I don’t have one!

Can you share your worst airport experience?
When I went to Vegas, they lost our luggage.

Were they able to find it?
After 2 days.

What did you do for clothing?
We shopped for new clothing. They reimbursed a very small amount. It was insulting.

Fun.

have plenty of lounger chairs.

They don’t have younger chairs now?
Not enough or not ones that recline. They should also have massagers.

My dream airport would remove/avoid _________?
Body scanners. They can apparently see everything. I don’t like knowing that there is a man there analyzing my body shape.

What is your favourite airport you’ve been to and why?
Toyko because its really clean and very efficient.

Why do you mean by efficient?
The Japanese way! I got my my luggage immediately. I knew exactly where to find transit and which way to go.

Can you share your worst airport experience?
Boarded onto a plane and then we sat on a plane for 3 hours. That was the Toronto airport. We had to ask for water because it was so hot and we were all thirsty.

Did you get food?
They gave us some crackers but thats it!

Was caused the delay?
There were mechanical issues.

How did you feel?
It was really scary.

What is your favourite airport you’ve been to and why?
YVR because its so beautiful with the first nations artwork. Clean, modern.

Probably in Cuba.

What happened?
It was very unorganized. Everyone lined up for I don’t know what. There was a giant room with lots of people waiting.

Where they waiting to check-in?
I was for arrivals. Going through customs.

Where you able to get throughout ok?
Yes

How long did you wait?
It was a long time ago.

When you think of the Cuba airport what do you think of?
Hot, frustrating and angry.

I was coming back from San Fran from Christmas holidays.

YVR, its very homey. It’s like home!

A lot of American airports have really bad signage. The Philadelphia airport is really old and I don’t know where anything is. The prices of food is always marked up so high! It’s so crazy.

Can you share your worst airport experience?
Chicago!

What happened?
That was our layover and we had to go back to security and almost missed our connecting flights.

Why did you have to go back?
Thats what they told us to do!

Why?
It’s the layout of the airport. For us to get to our connecting flight, we have to leave security and come back through security to repeat the entire process. It took a lot of time and was not necessary!

I think of that experience as being really stressful.
