During my TTG (a special program held in Uni for the graduating set) I remember one of the speakers, Barr. Banji Baruwa said:
Opportunities are packaged in responsibility
His teaching was on kingdom stewardship but a woman* saw more to what he was saying. He explained how people keep looking for opportunities but they are not willing to take responsibility. I agree. Same as how a recruiter once told me that there are jobs but some people are just unemployable.
Before Opportunity
Like you, I have looked for opportunities to really prove myself, my abilities and be a better version of myself. Sometimes, I failed and sometimes I got those opportunities. In times I didn’t get the opportunity I realized one thing (asides other factors):
- I wasn’t ready for the responsibility, I didn’t prepare, I didn’t succeed
A while ago I watched Zain Asher give a talk at TEDxEuston here. She mentioned this quote below and it really stuck to me.
Success comes when opportunities meet preparation
In the video, she clearly explains how important preparation is before opportunity giving examples of her life and that of her brother, Chiwetel Ejiofor.
After Opportunity
In one word, succeed. By preparing, you have already set your self up for success. Just do that.
Imagine how successful we would be when we face opportunities prepared.
Thank you for getting to this point
