The Galaxy S22 will have recycled fish nets in the structure
Samsung wants to show that it cares about the environment, according to the criticism received and assumed even before the pandemic, using recycled fish nets in the composition of its gadgets.Just days before the official launch of the new flagships, Samsung announced that the Galaxy S22 series models are partly made from recycled fishing nets. Microplastics and pieces from large fishing nets are considered by biologists to be the greatest danger to marine life — even bigger than bottles and plastic bags. These contribute to what specialists call “ghost fishing”, which also leads to the killing of endangered fish species. About 640,000 tons of fishing nets are thrown away annually. Samsung does not say how many fishing nets it has recycled or what percentage of the new material in its phones will be used to help us better distinguish between activism and marketing, but says it wants to use it in as many products as possible, not only the Galaxy S22 series. The new series of smartphones will be presented on February 9 and will be composed, apparently, of three models — Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 + and Galaxy S22 Ultra, the last one being the successor of the Galaxy Note series.
