It is interesting that we are now outsourcing customer support to Americans in cheaper locations. For years, corporations and government have been outsourcing support to really cheap foreign locations, such as India, Mexico, and the Philippines. I always asked the person on the phone where they were actually located!
It was really poor support (scripted!, especially Dell a few years ago), so now some of it is back in the USA. It is possible to do that because of the race to the bottom, which has made compensation here quite cheap. It is especially cheap when the company can trade promises for work!
