Possibility Mindset — Day 58

According to Paul Slovic, “Risk does not exist “out there,” independent of our minds and culture, waiting to be measured.

Paul suggests we invented risk to understand danger.

Humans are excellent inventors. One could argue that’s what we were designed to do.

Just like risk, we invented possibilities.

The possibility of penicillin, the possibility of air-travel, the possibility of becoming multi-planetary species were all invented by us.

We get to choose which invention deserves our attention, our focus.

The focus on risk is easy — maintain status quo, reduce exposure, reduce interactions, be safe.

The focus on possibility is difficult — take action, embrace failure, leap towards opportunities, be audacious.

For those of us who seek positive change, we must set our sight on the invention that propels us toward it.

To possibilities!
