Philosophy is what allows us to shape the meaning that comes from all the chaos and noise that can clutter a changing world. It’s wonderful to see the same respect we give to athletes and pioneers go to someone as beautifully and powerfully philosophical as #CharlesTaylor. Well before this prize was a little seed of thought, Professor Taylor was talking about multiculturalism, identity in a modern world and how we can live better together. Sometimes what we need is hope — wisdom and hope. It can’t just be a wing and a prayer, especially when our politics have left us blinded on bad seas.

I really appreciate that we can be the rudders of our own little ships, pulling our crew of humanity together.
