Ah! So much relate. :) I totally get where you are, mentally, because I’ve been going through something quite similar myself. Having quit my job and returned home from my summer abroad, I, too, am struggling to find a sense of routine. I was toying with the idea of getting myself a hot desk at a co-working space I found, hoping it would get me back into the office-home cycle of routine and discipline.
When I announced my new plan to my family at dinner, my mom suggested that I use her office — she’s hardly in anyway, since her work takes her hopping between sites and meetings all day — for the time being and save some money. It made sense because I’m not exactly raking in serious cash yet. At first, I felt uncomfortable squatting in her office space, but today is Day 3 and I find the quiet environment, this clean white desk, the face of Lord Buddha, a few pieces of art, and the essential office amenities (electric kettle, microwave, water jar, lamp, ceiling fan, colourful stray stationery) perfectly suited to my personality. I can actually focus in here, and I don’t have to interact with more than three people if I stay put. I should thank my stars and just keep getting dressed and land up with my mini-whiteboard from home every day. After that, the trick is to just keep going, keep going, keep going! For now. Until my next vacation, let’s say.
