The state of [ fashion ] e-tailers

Let’s try to explore how fashion e-commerce is evolving, from a perspective based mostly on convenience to platforms based on new business models and enhanced experiences.

Notjustalabel : integrates standard tech and new labels.

  • 20,000 designers from more than 110 countries.

Farfetch : integrates tech(great design) and boutiques

  • 400 boutiques and more than 1,600 luxury designers.
  • 10 million hits a month.
  • More that $500m in sales in 2015.

Lyst : integrates data and fashion

  • Three million products from 11,557 designers and stores.
  • Around 25 million shoppers use Lyst’s site annually.
  • Set to hit a gross merchandise volume of $150 million in 2015.

Vfiles : integrates tech and fashion industry

  • 90 percent of users are under 35.
  • An average of $175 to $200 per transaction.

Nuji : integrates state of the art tech and boards

  • Total equity funding of $2M.

One thing that these platforms have in common is that they are all scalabe and take advantage of tech in the right manner.
Fashion is too diverse to think that it will be dominated by one company.
Probably the right way to go is a mix of these platforms that means creating a brand, being present on and offline and using tech heavily.
