I’ve never — not once — seen a woman introduce a man as her husband/boyfriend/coworker/friend and simply move on. There’s always a lead-in — “this is my boyfriend Mark. You’d love what he does — he teaches history at a charter school and knows everything you can imagine about WWII.”

I hypothesize that there is a level of timidness in speaking to the significant other of someone you work with. Jealousy can be a strong devider, and while you mention the difference in introduction styles, you don’t mention wether women talk to your introduced man more or if men talk to the introduced man more. Not that this is good or justified, it just suggests that tackling jealousy and encouraging openness may help solve this concern =)
