Company Valuation Using Google Sheets

In an earlier article I had mentioned several ways of valuating a company. However, doing the same calculations over and over again just happens to be tedious. Do you really go through the calculations every single time? You know you should. But do you?

Would you not rather just type in a ticker symbol into a cell in Google Sheets and get company valuations for four of the most popular valuation methods immediately, so that you can compare that with the current stock price?

I present to you, the Company Financials: ← link to Google Sheets document

Copy the Google Sheet to your own Google Drive and the Summary Tab should show you the valuation of a company you wish to investigate. It looks like the following:

This calculator uses data from MarketWatch and Yahoo! Finance to populate two other data tabs Raw Data (for a companies financials) and historical data (for historical stock prices).

Go ahead and change the cell in B2 to aapl and see the valuation for Apple. Calculations are easy enough to understand such that if you want to change any formulae, you can just go ahead and change them accordingly.

Note that this is not suitable for very young companies like Square (SQ) or Moderna (MRNA). Typically you would not want to employ any of these valuation methods to start-ups and the like, for whom, financials are not available for at least the last 5 years.

If you wish to brush up on company valuation, you are welcome to read the earlier article:

As always, go forth and prosper!
