IT’S TIME WE PRAY FOR HUMANITY.

We prayed for America.

We prayed for Beirut.

We prayed for Paris.

As a terrorist attack is broadcasted on media, the whole world decides to become one, to stand against those responsible. The media continuously shows the horrific events and produces many views and opinions formed from all parts of the world. The media analyses possibilities. The presidents of the developed nations declare their support to the troubled cities. Facebook contributes to this by allowing watermarks of country flags. The world moans. People pray.

And then, we all forget.

We all forget the countries that endure this pattern everyday. The countries that have adapted this into their daily lifestyle. We’ve forgotten the civil wars that sucked the life out of some countries. We forget Syria. We forget Iraq. We forget that America’s 9/11, the attack in Paris, is some people’s entire lifetime in Terrorist dominant countries. Where’s the media then? Where’s Facebook’s support? Where are the Presidents? Where’s the whole world vowing to stand as one? Who prays? Who moans? Who fights?

In this war governing world, we have now forgotten that destruction not only occurs through bombs and bullets. They occur naturally. Where are the Presidents of the great developed nations? Where’s Facebook’s inventive idea to add more watermarks? Where’s the support for Chennai? Who’s broadcasting this? Who’s changing statuses from across the world saying ‘we are with Chennai’? Who’s standing with Chennai today?
Who knows about it?

While Chennai suffers through natural disasters. Some countries are suffering through man-made disasters. What we fail to understand is that each of us are suffering today. We fail to understand that in this crude world, disaster has mastered in disguising itself in many forms. We may not face a significant, life damaging disaster today. We may have escaped today. But we all are the victims of selfishness. Uncaring. Ungrateful. It’s easy to change a Facebook profile picture, a status, or even upload a paragraph. This shows that people may care. For how long? Because a day doesn’t count. We’ve become mere puppets of the controllers that are the media, the big developed nations.
We fail to understand that the word “humanity” must exist throughout our lifetime.
We have lost meanings behind compassion, care, concern.
We have lost the meaning behind being one. Standing together.
We shouldn’t be oblivious to the rest of the world, to explore and adapt the definitions of those words only when big giant produces articles, documentaries and ‘life-changing speeches’, but throughout our short period of life. We need to hold on to this throughout every rain drop, gust of wind, and air we inhale and exhale.

It has come to a point where we let these giants control our thoughts, beliefs and opinion. It has come to a point where is a President of an influential nation ‘promises to stand behind’ a country (in most cases — countries that are more economically fortunate), the whole world becomes mere puppets. If Facebook sets the trend, the whole world follows. If the media giants reports, the whole world sympathises them, until the media moves onto a new occurrence.
Prayers and support shouldn’t be restricted to a day. It shouldn’t be bound to a single occurrence. We need to stand as one before we are engulfed by the enemies, regardless of whether it’s a rare contingency or a daily incident. Regardless of whether it’s a man-made disaster or a natural disaster.

It’s time we pray for America. It’s time we pray for Beirut. It’s time we pray for Paris. Its time we pray for Syria. It’s time we pray for Baghdad. It’s time we pray for Chennai. It’s time we pray for this beautiful mother earth, and her children.

It’s time we pray for humanity.
