10 Things that Make Me Really Happy
Here we go:
Books — the beauty they exude, their musty smell of dead processed wood.
The sweet sound of music — whatever genre it may be, if it appeals to me, I’m happy.
Travel — the gift of perceiving the character of places and their history, culture, and people there in.
The arousing sound of a lover's laughter. The sparkle in her eyes when she looks at me, and just maybe, the swinging of her hips.
Family — the forever quality of withholding judgement, for kinship, love, and shared bloodlines.
Writing — the ability to imagine and create. To look and be proud of the privilege of mirroring lives and experiences.
Friends — for camaraderie and laughter. And shared interests. Beautiful people and their little efforts in the world.
Beautiful conversations about anything. And all safe spaces where they occur. The quality expression of thoughts and ideas.
Ọha soup — Or any other well-cooked Igbo soup accompanied with a wrapful of pounded yam/akpụ.
Films — the dazzling power of audio-visual storytelling. The ability to capture and portray.
