Senior Design Project Part 2

This week, I started work on the first two pieces of my senior design project. I started with my day dress, which was a simple sweetheart bodice with a flared skirt. The pleated straps and the pleated overlay added interest to the design. I also shaped the hem to make it like a petal. I had a few fittings with my model, and it is almost finished. I’m so excited! Draping after a long summer was a little difficult at times, but my confidence is growing.

Today I started work on the pleated skirt for one of my day looks. I am really excited to see it made in the taffeta fabric because it has such great body and volume. I just have pictures of the (very messy) muslin at the moment. I tried to drape the pleats so that they would radiate away from the body.

It’s really really cool to see my designs come into reality! I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I’m so excited to continue draping. We’ll see what I get done over the next week! Questions? Comments? Let me know!
