Sometimes I get that nagging feeling like, am I raising a monster? He gets so much of what he wants, unless it’s dangerous or I’m annoyed. And, still, I don’t really know. He has to make concessions for my shortcomings, my illness. I believe in kindness and respect, and maybe respect is learned over time, and not something we can instill or teach. Kids are still exploring all facets of life, and maybe we aren’t as much “in charge” of them as we may think or want to be. I try to remember that the best way for my kid to learn is by modeling the behavior I wish to see. He’s two and he kisses everything (which was an issue at Target), because I can’t stop kissing his sweet, giant head!
