Test Cases

Hi readers, this time I will comment about the most important elements on the test cases. Why?? This week the Pernix’s QA apprentices started a process of improvement and homologation of knowledge.

First, What are test cases? Wikipedia answer is:

“A test case, is a set of test inputs, execution conditions, and expected results developed for a particular objective, such as to exercise a particular program path or to verify compliance with a specific requirement. Test case is the cornerstone of Quality Assurance whereas they are developed to verify quality and behavior of a product.”

Now, with the clear concept, the most important question i did to myself was: What are the basic elements on test cases?

I want to thank my QA partner Carlos Angulo, He could find a template, and today i will tell you about this.

Well, i investigated and the basics elements are:

  • Test Case Number
  • Project Name
  • Test Case Name
  • Developer
  • Test Type
  • Tester
  • Description
  • Finished at
  • Reviewing at
  • Pre-conditions: General descriptions about the tests, enviroments, test data and other important information.
  • Step
  • Action
  • Expected System Response
  • Pass/Fail
  • Comment
  • Post-conditions
  • And pictures spaces to demonstrate the error.
