The dataset being used below is the Superstore Dataset available on Tableau Community.
Steps to create a Progress Bar Chart —
- Drag Categorical Variable to Rows Shelf
- Drag Numerical Variable to Columns Shelf
- On the Numerical Variable, change the ‘Quick Table Calculation’ to ‘Percent of Total’
- Format the Numerical Variable to Percentage, Decimal Places to ‘0’
- Create a calculated field AVG(1) and include to Columns Shelf
- Go to the Numerical Variable on the Marks shelf and change Visual to ‘Circle’
- Go to the AVG(1) on the Marks shelf and change the Visual to ‘Bar’, decrease the size of the bar
- Right click the AVG(1), and change to Dual Axis
- Synchronize the Axis, Move marks to Back and Uncheck Show Header
- Change the colors of the Bar and Circle
- Drag Numerical value to Label, change Label Alignment of Circle to Top Right and Change to Percent of Total
