Progress Bar Chart

The dataset being used below is the Superstore Dataset available on Tableau Community.

Steps to create a Progress Bar Chart —

  • Drag Categorical Variable to Rows Shelf
  • Drag Numerical Variable to Columns Shelf
  • On the Numerical Variable, change the ‘Quick Table Calculation’ to ‘Percent of Total’
  • Format the Numerical Variable to Percentage, Decimal Places to ‘0’
  • Create a calculated field AVG(1) and include to Columns Shelf
  • Go to the Numerical Variable on the Marks shelf and change Visual to ‘Circle’
  • Go to the AVG(1) on the Marks shelf and change the Visual to ‘Bar’, decrease the size of the bar
  • Right click the AVG(1), and change to Dual Axis
  • Synchronize the Axis, Move marks to Back and Uncheck Show Header
  • Change the colors of the Bar and Circle
  • Drag Numerical value to Label, change Label Alignment of Circle to Top Right and Change to Percent of Total
