Tableau Tutorial — How to create a Step Chart

The dataset being used below is the Superstore Dataset available on Tableau Community.

Steps to create a Step Chart —

• Drag Date variable to the Column shelf

• Convert the Date variable to ‘Exact Date’

• Create a calculated field to show Step Visualization — ‘Week Level’

{FIXED DATETRUNC(‘week’, [Date Variable]) : COUNT([Numerical Variable])}

• Drag Step Calc into the Rows Shelf

• Change the Bar Type to ‘Line’
