Ellie Rhinehart was born and raised in Alpharetta, GA and now attends Georgia College and State University (GCSU) in Milledgeville, GA as a sophomore. She comes from a family of five which includes her older brother, younger sister, mom, and dad. She enjoys the outdoors, going to concerts, and hanging out with her friends in her free time. Today she answers some questions about her experience at GCSU.

Ellie went hiking in June of 2017 in Sedona, Arizona.

Q: Why did you choose Georgia College and State University?

A: I chose GCSU because after considering schools like University of Kentucky and South Carolina, I just decided that I wanted a smaller school environment, but I also wanted to be closer to home and GCSU had kinda the best of both worlds for that.

Q: What do you like most about GCSU?

A: What I like most about being a bobcat, is all of my other fellow bobcats. They’re all so encouraging and uplifting and we all have so much fun together and since it’s a small school I always see people I know when I’m walking to class, but it’s also big enough where I don’t have to see the people I don’t like all the time.

Q: What do you dislike about GCSU?

A: I dislike that we don’t have a football team because if I want to watch football, then I have to go watch flag football at the intramurals fields and that is just so lame. Not the same.

Q: What extra curriculars are you involved in on campus?

A: Well that’s a great question, Sarah. I am a member of the Kappa Upsilon chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha here at Georgia College and State University, and I’m very proud. I am also a Youngife leader at a middle school in Eatonton. Oh, I also do a lot of intramurals. The other year I did cornhole and went to the playoffs for it and it was really awesome.

Q: Why did you choose Zeta out of all the sororities on campus?

A: That’s also a good question Sarah. I definitely chose Zeta cause the girls are some of the most genuine women I’ve ever met and they’re very well rounded. After hearing that they’ve won all of intramurals two years in a row, have the most service hours, the highest GPA, and I’m not gonna continue because you can read for it yourself. But I just felt most at home with those “zladies”.

Q: Why did you join Younglife?

A: I joined Younglife because I heard about it through friends before I even came to this school, and then I kinda just went [to Younglife], and then kept going, and then naturally I got placed as a leader and that’s kinda why or how I started to do it.

Q: Which organization do you enjoy more and why?

A: Wow you really got me with that one. That’s a really tough question Sarah. Wow, I’m kind of getting heated. Do you have a cup of water maybe? I don’t think I can rank one above the other personally because I get different things out of those two very very very different organizations and I enjoy both of them equally.

Q: What is your degree and what do you plan on doing with that degree?

A: Making me think here. [For] my degree, I’m studying mass communications with a double minor in marketing and outdoor education. Right now, I am pursuing advertising, but I also would like to incorporate outdoor education somewhere in my future because I’m very outdoors. I like being outside in the wilderness, doing what the wilderness does out in the wilderness.

Q: If you could bring one restaurant to town, what would it be?

A: There’s so many. You know, Milledgeville does a good job of having so many already. But I think I would have to bring Willy’s because Barberitos just doesn’t do the job. As soon as I eat Barberitos, I have to go to the bathroom and that’s just not fun. So, I think that I would bring Willy’s because I can actually enjoy that experience.

Q: What do you like to do when you aren’t in class?

A: Well considering that I’m not in class for the majority of the day on most days, I like to do anything but go to class quite frankly. So, hang out with friends, watch TV, I like to eat, which requires me to cook. So therefore, I must enjoy cooking. Then I just like to walk around sometimes outside on the intramural fields and just take it in.

Q: If you were to study abroad, where would you go?

A: You know I really wish I could go everywhere. I really wish I could experience it all. But if I had to choose one, I think it would be Switzerland because they have really big mountains and really cool things there. I could take some really cool pictures and do some fun stuff. But also learn because that’s what study abroad is for. So that’s where I’d go.
