My Newsroom Pick- KDVR

The newsroom I picked is KDVR in Denver, Colorado. KDVR is a Fox affiliate that broadcasts to about 1.6 million homes. KDVR is a top 20 market listed at 17. They broadcast 45 and a half hours of live programming each weekday. Fox31 has won 15 Emmys from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences over the past three years.
Scrolling through Twitter and Facebook, they post almost the exact same content with Twitter being more concise with their summary. The Facebook page for Fox31 KDVR is updated pretty consistently with new posts about every 20 minutes give or take. It seems to me that someone is writing their posts and that it’s not uploaded by a computer system.
Their Twitter is updated more often with traffic and other stories and they retweet a lot. Looking at their twitter I wonder why it seems so different than their Facebook page. When you are on their Twitter you get a different sort of feel. I also feel like there is more information on their twitter than their Facebook. I feel like they use Facebook for the bigger stories and don’t use Facebook to cover the smaller stuff. Their Twitter has a better mix of big and small stories.

I decided to do Fox31 KDVR because I follow Greg Dutra on Facebook who is a meteorologist at Fox31. Greg Dutra is also a graduate of Lyndon State College. Out of some of the other broadcast meteorologists I follow on Facebook, I noticed Greg isn’t as active on social media and I wanted to find out why that was. I was also curious to see if Fox31 also wasn’t as active on social media. I also chose Fox31 because I love Denver, Colorado and I hope to be able to work there someday.
