Eye for an Eye

Eye for an eye.
Bullet for a bullet.
Brother shooting brother.
Blood is the same color.
It runs the same, smells the same
stains the same.

The same mothers cry
while the spirit of life dies.
Fear ignites the lead.
Everyone gets burned by the flame.
Black and blue are both red.
Who is to blame?

Voices cry out, but heads turn away
while ears close.
Where is justice?
Glass breaks and disappears into the night.
The child look on with tear soaked eyes.
Hatred is learned and remembered.

The night never ends.
