Why do you want to sit still?

It’s been my experience that escape never solves anything — when I return my problems always remain.

It’s completely understandable to take a break from challenging feelings or to blow off some excess energy however works best for you in a healthy constructive manner.

The catch-22 for me is that I am often searching for a permanent escape from my feelings instead of feeling them, which means that many of the traditional channels for escape — a drink, food, relationships, exercise — quickly become addictive and deconstructive in my life.

On the flip, it’s been my experience that all feelings, good, bad or otherwise are temporary. To go through means to have the experience for the length of the feeling, understanding it will not last forever.
