Thank you for sharing honestly about the complexity of balancing motherhood and career. You helped me remember that I am not alone in my fears and experience of being a working mother and on a day like to today, that can make all the difference. ❤
Thanks for asking Sarah. I’m going to respond by directing you to two of my favorite writings on this topic: first from Verna Myers, “Diversity Is Being Invited to the Party; Inclusion Is Being Asked to Dance”.
Second, the incredible EricaJoy, The Other Side of Diversity.
Congratulations Peter! You’re amazing, so it’s no surprise to see your brilliance being acknowledged.
It’s been my experience that escape never solves anything — when I return my problems always remain.
It’s completely understandable to take a break from challenging feelings or to blow off some excess energy however works best for you in a healthy constructive manner.
As someone who has received this feedback when raising valid concerns myself, I now think “You’re being too sensitive” is too often synonymous with “I am unwilling to look at my shortcomings.”
I’m so glad you got out of there.
