Men I Otherwise Like and Respect

Men I otherwise like and respect have said some troubling things this primary season.

Men I otherwise like and respect state that having a uterus doesn’t qualify you to be President.

Men I otherwise like and respect use Citizen’s United as a Supreme Court litmus test, but won’t say the same about Roe v. Wade.

Men I otherwise like and respect call the one woman in the race destructively ambitious.

Men I otherwise like and respect claim the former First Lady, New York Senator and Secretary of State is unqualified to be President.

Men I otherwise like and respect refer to Hillary Clinton and surrogates as “Democratic whores.”

Men I otherwise like and respect assert they would vote for Elizabeth Warren if she were running.

Men I otherwise like and respect subsequently blame Elizabeth Warren for their candidate’s failures.

Men I otherwise like and respect believe a system that has the female candidate winning is “rigged” against them.

Men I otherwise like and respect assure me Bernie Bros aren’t real.

Men I otherwise like and respect reduce me to a “vagina voter.”

Men I otherwise like and respect tell me I’m actually voting against my own interests.

Men I otherwise like and respect then say my choice is selfish.

Men I otherwise like and respect decide I’m probably just not progressive.

Men I otherwise like and respect are no longer men I either like or respect. Because the men I once liked and respected never actually liked or respected me.
