I have lived in Texas for a lot longer than 23 years. I have at least 10 extra years on you. My ancestors on my dad’s side can directly be traced to Charles Carroll, who signed the Declaration of Independence on behalf of the Southern State of Maryland. This was before the Civil War. My family fought in the Civil War, (and lost, obviously) and not once has anyone in my community or family ever suggested the Confederate flag was anything except repugnant during my life.

If time spent or location(s) in the South matter in this debate, than I clearly have the advantage. However, this is all subjective and I put the data as evidence for you below.

Also — you might want to move. Clearly you live in the community with the ~1000–2000 people who do see the Confederate Flag as a positive. I sure wouldn’t want to live around such negative people!
