We don’t pay most public school teachers a living wage, and we expect women to do most of the work at home. This has led to a majority of men not choosing to be teachers, it’s not because there is some barrier for men to become teachers. Additionally, while most teachers are women, most school principals and administrators (the ones that are paid high salaries) are held by men. So, if men run the schools and districts, and they’re making the hiring and salary decisions, then it would seem to be a problem we need men to help solve before we can get more male teachers in our schools.
