Developers: How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome

Great advice Abhi! Whenever I experience a touch of impostor syndrome, it always helps if I remind myself that impostor syndrome is something that everyone experiences, independent of level of knowledge or skill. It’s a natural tendency of (most) individuals to underestimate their own knowledge and abilities, and over-estimate those of others — especially as all we tend to see of others is their polished and professional public personas.
The best developers (or really professionals in any area of work) are good at recognising areas in which they lack knowledge or skills, expressing that to co-workers and collaborators openly and honestly, and finding the correct way to fill in those gaps as needed.
