The 60s, to me, have been one of the most exciting and fascinating decades. From music, fashion, art, design, film, everything about this entire decade has me infatuated and has done since a very young age. Beatles biographer, Philip Norman, recalled the 60s and said, “I never took holidays because every day was like one.” I’d imagine some of the fascination comes from my Mum and Dad, as this was the decade in which they were born so that is possibly where the initial interest came from.

As I started studying graphic design, I began to realise quite quickly that the 60s are responsible for a lot of trends within the art and design world that are still here today. A lot of 60s designers paved the way for modern design.

For this blog post, I have decided to share some of my favourite movie posters from this decade.

Need I say more? Arguably the most iconic poster of the decade — 1961
A Hard Day’s Night — 1964
Couldn't miss this one out. Psycho — 1960
That heavy serif font just screams 60s to me. How To Steal A Million — 1966
Dr. No — 1962
Barbarella — 1968

I think it’s safe to say that all of these posters above are works of art and wouldn’t look out of place hanging on a wall as a piece of artwork.
