Mindful Self

I want to document everything.

Each moment is worthy of a snapshot.

Each though encapsulates a world.

Each person speaks volumes

in the silent space

between their words.

Swimming oceans

of stories —

of generations

move

like ocean waves

within their eyes.

I want to document everything —

soaking in moments

like sips

of fine wine.

Savoring the nuances

in intonations —

the pause

between thoughts —

the heartbeats

between casual banter

among old friends

reuniting.

I want to document everything

without documenting anything.

The moment

my journal.

The world

my cuddly blanket.

As I become comfortable

with what is,

I let go

of ideas of fate

or control.

I get comfortable

with a blanket

that is constantly

changing form.

I want to document everything

until it becomes

nothing.

In the moment

of surrender

of worldly thought

and earthly feeling

I let

my pen and pad

go.

I let it all

go.

In that moment

there is nothing

to document

because

it

and me

have become

one.
