I meant that women, more often than not, don’t care about the action movies that men love.

I still think the romantic sub plots of a lot of action movies honestly don’t actually help them appeal to a female audience. Mostly because they are often just awkwardly shoved into the plot and just don’t fit- see nearly every Bond film, they are great fun and Bond films need a Bond girl but romance is never a selling point. This doesn’t apply when the writing is decent and the romantic sub-plot is actually worked into the story well or if the story is equal parts romance and action (the Princess Bride is just brilliant and always will be). That’s what I was trying to convey- no one likes a poorly written action movie romantic subplot that is clearly only included in order to draw in more female viewers. The women and men who would only care about the romance don’t like the awkwardness of writing a half hearted attempt at one in in the middle of the action and the men and women who like action don’t appreciate sudden kissing breaks when there could be more explosions.
