I even think that is why societies that throw females in war dont survive:
the boyfriend line works because it means “go away or a man might come here and beat you.

The scythians may be gone but the Thai and Japanese are still here. The Celts have merged with the rest of the British people’s over time but they haven’t been forgotten. Same with the Vikings- those men and women certainly left their mark on the world. And sure, eventually the Romans ended the whole female gladiator thing, but they also eventually did away with gladiators of both genders. There was at least one female regiment during the crusades- not to mention various noble ladies and women disguised as men. There were knights of the glorious order of Saint Mary who were women until the order was suppressed. Don’t forget Jean de Danpierre Countess of Montfort who lead women in defense of her town under siege and then rode out on a warhorse in full armor and was also known to have lead battle ships into naval battles. It also wasn’t unheard of for women to participate in tourneys- the house of Dudley’s sigil actually honors Agnes Hotot who famously rode the joust in her father’s place, unhorsed her opponent and then removed her helmet to demonstrate that the man had lost to a woman. Some training in such martial arts were fairly common. And really I feel like the Cherokee suffered more from the whole trail of tears thing than from having War Women.
