They actually did give him this in the cartoon “Clone Wars” series. They made two, focusing on different aspects of the clone wars between episodes 1,2 and 3. I know that one is still official cannon, but the other was not bought by Disney so isn’t. I can’t remember which version showed Obi Wan’s love story. My younger brother loved both shows. Basically, He fell for the Queen of Mandalore and considered leaving the Jedi order to be with her but she tragically died defending her planet. Who knows? Maybe after the Jedi were eradicated he met someone else and , no longer having ties to a celibate religious order he didn’t hesitate the second time around. It would be so cool if Rey were a Kenobi. You made some really wonderful points! I can’t wait to see what they actually end up doing with her story in the future! I hope that you are right. I hadn’t considered this possibility before, but wow. That would really be brilliant.
On a separate note, I honestly always thought that Anakin WAS the Chosen One. He did, in fact, bring balance to the force. It’s just that balance wasn’t actually a good thing. Before Anakin, there were many Jedi and they even held a good deal of political power. There were, however, only two Sith, Sideous and Duku. This meant that the force was unbalanced, favoring the light. After Anakin’s turn there are two Jedi (Yoda and Obi-Wan) and two Sith (Sideous and Vader)… TA da! the force is now balanced.
