Um, yes. Katy Perry’s company was compensated for production costs, travel and lodging, lighting, equipment, her performance and the rights to use her songs. She was similarly paid by Obama in 2012. All in accordance with campaign finance rules. (Which is all actually stated in the article you liked). Why WOULDN’T a professional performer be paid to perform? It is her job and putting on that kind of show costs a good deal of money on Perry’s end at least. I’d much rather hear about a politician that did actually pay the artists hired to perform than one that didn’t follow through with their compensation. It’s also nice to see a politician actually pay for the rights to use an artist’s music which sadly many politicians do not do.
