…ee the true power of reading bastardized by those looking for political and social clout (capital). However, my time both on social media and in a university setting has made it clear to me that reading or calls for reading are not enough to make revolutionaries or forward just change. There must be a deliberateness to political education — an unadulterated motivation, a context, a take-away. Without these things, calls for reading can be as empty as calls to vote — vote for who and for why and how? How we read and why we read (for ourselves, an audience, our proverbial future) are all important factors.
