If you actually bothered to read and understand feminist theory and philosophy, you’d also understand that the arguments brought forth in these discussions are far more complex than “it’s all the fault of the penis.”
However, where the “penis” is at fault, or where the “penis” continues to be the strongest voice in perpetuating harmful traditions, it’s only fair that this is pointed out unapologetically. If we don’t point out the root of the problem, then we can’t solve it either. Simple as 1+1=2.
You asked about circumcision. You asked why there are laws (in the West) against female circumcision and not against male circumcision, implying quite clearly that 1) female circumcision is not half as bad as male circumcision, and 2) if women truly cared about human rights, they would also fight to illegalise male circumcision.
I explained the situation about as plainly as I could: 1) female circumcision is more detrimental to the function of the female genitals than male circumcision; 2) both were created within a patriarchal religious system and both rituals are performed by men (rabbis and imams), even if they are in many cases supported by wives, mothers, aunts, sisters, and grandmothers; 3) circumcised women — as opposed to circumcised men — have been very vocal about what happened to them and wish to stop it for future generations of young girls; 4) hence, there are now laws in place, in the West, against female circumcision, but not against male circumcision, because, once again, circumcised men are not vocally speaking out against their circumcision. If they did, and they did so in great numbers, male circumcision would be stopped in the blink of an eye! It wouldn’t even be a serious struggle.
In other words, feminists do not blame “the penis” for everything (that’s what anti-feminists think, because they don’t know that feminists are actually smarter than they are and understand that life is not black and white), but they are also not afraid to point out the root of a problem if it needs to be pointed out in order to solve the problem.
