May 28, 2022Member-only“They Called Us Enemy” by George Takei: A ReviewWhy this graphic memoir should make it’s way to your bookshelf. Forgive this white-girl moment, but I was a little shook when I realized the events in this story were true. All my knowledge about WWII is centered around the Jewish experience. I knew that Pearl Harbor happened, but I…Books2 min readBooks2 min read

Feb 17, 2022Raising Feminists3593JAKI love how you define feminism through the example of your children.I love how you define feminism through the example of your children. I just had my first son, and I've been thinking about how to raise him as a feminist/womanist for many years now. As a teacher, I've found that so many children are indoctrinated with mysoginistic beliefs from such a young age, in spite of having so many female teachers/mentors/leaders. I don't want to participate in that, but I know that if I don't parent intentionally, general culture will raise my kids for me. Loved reading your article.1 min read1 min read
