Life is a bush of roses

Chill Blains are a common complaint in northern parts of India during the cold weather. The hands are swollen and red due to the cold and excessive use of cold water. Its very painful and itchy. The sight of her fingers made me shudder. They looked like balloons and were an angry red. She was almost 87.

I told her “mataji don’t put your hands in cold water”

. She smiled meekly and said to me then who else will do the house work. Her husband was paralysed and in the bed and she had to manage the Entire show alone. She lives with her four sons and daughter in laws. Yet she has no help.

I felt bad for her but she encouraged me seeing the sad look on my face.

It does not matter she said. I believe god is with me and he’s going to see me through my troubles. As long as I can I will she said.

And those lines stay be me. I tell this to many people often who complain about hardships of life.

As long as you can. Work for it. That’s the mantra to go on. Thats the only path to success. Thats karma. And that’s the biggest dharma you can persue.

Its easy to give excuses and give up. Its most difficult to hang on and work persistently to achieve. Life is always hard and the best comes once you cross the hurdles.

It doesn’t mean you will have a smooth sailing there after. You can’t say that I have had my fair share of struggles and now on no more should be there. I am reminded of what Ratan Tata said in an interview that a flat ecg means you are dead. Similarly a life without ups and downs means you exist no more.

We fear change,we try to escape hardships. We want a smooth cosy comfortable life. We want the good things. God money. Luxurious stuff money can buy. We are envious of people who have it all. What we see is the success stories, what we don’t see is the struggle behind those successes.

There are no free lunches. Everything comes at a price. Men and women who have it all have it because of years and years of continuous struggle sacrifice and extreme hard work. Always first look at that part. Aspire to be hard working and the success follows automatically.

That old woman had so much strength not physically but in her head. She had not given up nor was she willing to. She taught me a lesson. Her perseverance was commendable.

Strength is not physical but mental.where there is a will there is a way.

Work hard and let your karma speak for you. Life is not a bed of roses. Its a rose bush. The thorns and the flowers go hand in hand. To enjoy the beautiful flowers you have to bear the cuts and pricks of the thorns
