Those in seats of power cannot remain silent. When Marc Benioff pulled out of Indiana to protest the anti-gay law, it spoke volumes. A few months later, gay marriage was legalized. Just over one year later, and it’s not uncommon for companies to exercise their economic engines in protest.
Over the course of the past 18 months, we have been researching Human Company Design, a management approach that creates value by investing in people. While most of our research to date has focused on how businesses are formed, funded, and operated (policies), I have been searching for examples of the Human Company response to #blacklivesmatters.
Facebook explicitly supports the movement. And while this is a good thing, I was even more intrigued by W&K’s move, which was prompted by a company-wide discussion. Thank you for sharing your story, which I will now include in our research on this topic.
