Speaking as an EU citizen, I think that Europe still is over-populated by about 200%. The decline in population is required to return to a manageable agriculture allowing some space for wildlife, and a return to more human-friendly habitation models than our current urban environments.

Population shrinkage will bring problems with care for the elderly, especially the tail of the baby-boomers, which is why temporary immigration will be necessary to manage the transition.

That period of transition to lower population levels requires action, but no alarmism.
