I don’t understand the culture of banishment. To me it’s like mass hysteria from the Salem Witch trials. I actually am a victim of sexual assault myself and I’ve never gotten any kind of apology. Devin dropped out of Twitter, lost his job and his podcast and is doing hard work on himself, which is more than I can say for most people out there who do terrible things. I believe in redemption and forgiveness. I don’t understand our culture that doesn’t. There seems to be this idea out there that we are born perfect and must remain perfect and must never make a mistake. Well guess what. We aren’t perfect. We as a society torture and abuse animals every day just so little Johnny can have bacon crumbles on his ice cream. We live in a country that was built on stealing land from native Americans and slavery. I have done terrible things in my own life that I regret. People make mistakes. People do terrible things. But there should be atonement and forgiveness. If you can’t be down with that — that’s your problem and everyone else like you. But you better be sure your life is pure and that you’ve never done anything wrong to anyone. The amount of abuse hurled by Bernie supporters this year is nearly unforgivable but it could be forgiven if they apologized and made amends. But they won’t, so fuck ‘em.
