The problem is that we would like to understand something that cannot be understood by definition.

Let me explain this proposition. In the way we reason, we understand something if we know the reason for it, the reson why it has happened. And in causal systems the reason happens before its consequence.

If we do not want to prejudice anything there are two possibilities:

a) The Universe has a beginnig

b) The Universe is ethernal, from ever.

a) If the Universe has a beginning, there was absolutely nothing before, so ther could be no reason.

b) If the Universe is ethernal there is no before, so no reason can be before.
