Third Maleficent is already in works, says producers.

After success of both first and second films. Disney announces that a Threequel is recently in development.

In a recent interview, both producer’s Duncan Henderson and Jeff Kirschenbaum were asked if a Maleficent 3 was happening which they answered with this:

Are we getting a Maleficent 3?

Yes yes, we will definitely get a Maleficent 3. At least for the sake of the fans, we recently started planning a third movie.

In addition, at the end of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Maleficent promised Aurora that she would return to bless the child of Aurora and Phillip. So one day she will return with all the other fairies she trains. They will all be reunited for the common good in the future. But we just don’t know when it all happens as it didn't get green-lit yet.

In 2014, Angelina Jolie and her pointy prosthetic cheekbones turned one of the best Disney animated villains of all-time into a surprisingly intriguing character in Maleficent, the live-action dark fantasy take on Walt Disney’s legendary Sleeping Beauty. With a star-studded cast and a curious twist that turns the namesake evil fairy into a sympathetic antihero — while making Princess Aurora’s (Elle Fanning) father, King Stefan (Sharlto Copley), the true villain – Maleficent made a cool $758 million against a $180 million budget (per Box Office Mojo). As such, it’s not exactly a surprise that Disney decided to give the viewers more Jolie-ficent adventures.

The sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, dropped in 2019, and it set Maleficent and Aurora against their greatest challenge yet: Queen Ingrith of Ulstead (Michelle Pfeiffer), an antagonist out to destroy all fairies. With the two movies establishing a pretty neat fantasy universe around the Sleeping Beauty characters, it's only natural to expect that Disney intends to keep the ball rolling with future installments of the franchise.

But what adventures await Maleficent in future movies? We must wait for a Maleficent 3.

On September 9, Producer Jeff Kirschenbaum gave multiple websites an update, Stating that the project is in early stages of development. with the first draft of the script already written, a reliable source reportedly added that Evan Spiliotopoulos was involved in the project. But his involvement was not officially announced yet.
