Add Unique Styles to iOS Images/Text with Retype
Apps that help beautify an image are available dime a dozen on iTunes. Retype seeks to differentiate itself based on the huge variety of artwork possible on image files. The app from Sumoing positions itself separately from others with features like 3D, image layering, and shadow application. By adding this set of features, it aims to draw in users to download the app. It will appeal to those who demand extra from their app in order to make their images intuitive and eye catching.
The USP of the app –
- Layering — You can now type custom text over an image by relegating the image to a transparent background. The text uses your phone’s keyboard and can be typed in various size, style or color options.
- Posters — You can now create interactive posters and banners, thanks to a huge list of inspirational quotes that can be accessed from within the app. It provides support for 10 languages for a global audience.
- Library options — The in-built repository of quotes, background images, and font styles allows practically unlimited options for a user to ensure a unique and distinct image that can be shared on the social media space by the user once the work has been completed on that image.
- 3D quality — A special feature is the ability to provide 3D rendering with the help of sophisticated blend of colors and shadows. The behind the scenes layout engine doles out scores of different font styles and font art combinations that help in taking the visual appeal of the mage to an altogether new level.
- Versatile filters — The app offers numerous filters that can give a fresh new look to your image file. These filters include opacity, fade and blur among others.
- Device support — It supports all iPhones and iPads, even those with max resolution. It also helps integrate the app with the native ‘Photos’ app present on all iOS devices. This way it can be accessed directly from the ‘Photos’ app itself rather than opening the Retype app separately.
- Developer support — The app provides full Apple Edit Extension support, so that developers can manage edits and updates to the image file data and save versions as needed.
- Minimalistic interface — Unlike other typography styling apps that are cluttered with a plethora of colors or text styling options, the retype app has a clean and simple interface. It will appeal to the smartphone user who is already working on limited screen real estate.
How is it faring?
While good volume of feedback from users is yet to come in, a few who have downloaded the app are raving about the humongous range of features, the special ‘Layers Fonts’ (which is described on the iTunes site as a ‘first’ on mobile) and the versatility of colors, texts, background images, quotes, opacity, blur and fade options. Though one of the feedback on the iTunes site mentions lower resolution of the final image stored, this is yet to be corroborated by others.
