Today, while exploring Windows Mixed Reality Home using my HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset on my Windows 10 laptop, I came across the Explore WebVR app.

Although I have been aware of WebVR for a while, I did not know that there was an app as part of Windows Mixed Reality home.

So, what is WebVR? Let us take a quick detour.

WebVR is an open specification that makes it possible to experience VR in your browser. The goal is to make it easier for everyone to get into VR experiences, no matter what device you have. You need two things to experience WebVR: a headset and a compatible browser.

Some more information about WebVR will be provided towards the end of this article.

Now let’s get back to exploring the WebVR app in Windows Mixed Reality Home.

I was very glad to see this app, as it demonstrates development effort and support that is being poured into making VR mainstream via the Web browser (by Microsoft, Google, Mozilla etc.,).

Activating the app using one of the Windows Mixed Reality Controllers will pop up some WebVR apps.

I clicked on the A-BLAST app…

… and Microsoft Edge browser was launched with the A-BLAST WebVR app

I then clicked on the following icon in the bottom right of the browser to launch the app and put on my headset to experience it in VR.

A-BLAST is a simple and fun game and I really enjoyed playing it in VR. The game is available at the link below
